Congratulations to former ASIL PhD candidate Karolina Varkulevičiūtė, lab manager Christine Winter-Schuh and ASIL director Cheryl Makarewicz on their new paper: "Methodological Considerations for the Use of Acid-Based Pre-Treatment Protocols for Carbon and Oxygen Analysis of Tooth Enamel" published in Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry. The key take-home message of this article is to always consider carefully burial environment, sample substrate, and pretreatment protocols and how different configurations of these variables might impact measured isotope ratios.
